The other day on NPR they mentioned that in the 1950s or so, urban planners only planted male trees because female trees produced seeds that needed to be swept up; male trees only give off pollen which get blown away. This is why many urban areas have high incidences of allergies.

So how can you tell the difference between a male and female tree? Do all trees have the two genders?
