My house was extended when I bought it and has a raised patio for which there was planning permission. I want to erect a small conservatory (2m by 3.2m), so will I need to seek further planning permission to do this? I got conflicting advice from two different conservatory companies. Thanks.

13″ (”portable”) is the best I can do now. I’m down to the Ridgid, Dewalt, or Delta. Words of wisdom?

Ideas on resurfacing a deck? Which type of planer/sander should I use?

An idiot I hired to stain my deck ruined it with a pressure washer. Fired him! Now I plan to flip the boards (5/4″ x 4″ cedar) after planing the bottom side about 1/16″ – 1/8″ to clean them up (joists are 16″). I’ll also plane down any new boards I have to buy. Sanding would just be too time consuming (even a surface vibrating sander didn’t help much on the top surface).

I have a hand planer, but with so many board-feet (big deck!) it doesn’t seem practical for this job. So I plan to buy a power planer. I also want something I’ll be able to use for future jobs, such as trimming 2×4″ to square the corners (I’m just an old-fart homeowner who likes to play with wood, but not an avid woodworker). I’m considering either a bench planer, or maybe a planer-jointer which might be more useful in the future because I could also use it to do rabbits, etc.

Which type of planer would be best for this application, and why do you think so? Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I am in the market for an electric planer. It will be used for DIY jobs around the house. I don’t want to spend a lot but I would like a good planer at a reasonable price. Anyone have any experience and can recommend one? Thanks

Does anyone have any organization tips?

The first day of school’s creeping up and I’m really not ready for it. It’s not the school or anything–I’m going to be a Sophomore in high school in the same school district I’ve been going to school to my whole life along with the friends I’ve known my whole life. So, that’s no big deal. Last year, it was, but this year, not so much.
The big thing I’m having trouble with is organization. I’m a huge procrastinator and I’m not really all that organized. Last year, I tried a planner, but I normally forgot to use it because I just got it in the middle of the year and I wasn’t used to it. This year, I’m planning on getting one before school starts, but I don’t really know if I’m going to use it all the time. Can anyone help me figure out a way to use it everyday??
Also, I’m going to have homework every night, so I need a place to do it. In my room, I have a desk, but it is really unorganized. There is a bunch of stuff on top of it and inside the drawers, as well. Does anyone have any tips about this, too?? I’m willing to do anything to get more organized.
Thanks!!
