should i travel to japan by myself?

i know that heaps of people travel by themselves. how do they do it??? they need to plan everything in advance right?? like where they are going each day of their trip??
i’m not a planner. will travel agents plan it all for me?

i’m thinking i want to stay in shibuya. i’m the artsy type.
can someone please recommend a place to stay, and places to visit. and what’s the best time to visit?
it will be my first solo travel experience, and the first time i’ll have to plan and book everything myself!
