Just built a new deck, not paying attention all the deck boards are down already. Now I have some high spots on the boards, aprox 6″ in some spots. The joices are on 12″ centers, due to hot tub placement. Can I use a planer and how do I use it to level the boards?
6″ in some spots meaning length, only have to remove max 1/8″ to level with board next to it.

I need to fix my fence which has nonstandard widths of wood but I don’t want to buy a planer just for this project. I could rent one but I’m wondering if any hardware stores have a planer in the lumbar dept that customers can use?

I am using an antique now that probably won’t last for the whole job. I like the one I have, but the replacement blade is $110 and 2 hrs away. I like the type with a rotating blade.

Robert asked:

I have the above planer and recently it has been leaving high lines on the wood. They are not always in the same area. I have run the piece thru several times and get the same thing. I have run it on the far left, center and right sides and still lines in it that run from end to end. Yes I changed the blades to new ones and still doing it to my wood. I’ve taken the machine apart and blew every thing out of it with my compressor, Wiped everything I can see, cleaned the rollers, waxed the table basically it looks like it came out of the new box. The new blades were from makita. Did I miss something? Do you know of this problem?

Should the Builder of my building to install a Lightning Conductor after my building got hit by Lightning?

I live in Nasik Maharashtra India. Nasik has a history of thunder-storms and Lightning Strikes in the start of pre-monsoons (first few rains of the season). Last month my building got hit by Lightning and the corner of the roof parapet wall was totally destroyed. In total 10 people (including 4 members of my family) of our building miraculously escaped death that day when there was a shower of rubble from the roof (6th floor) of the building.

Is there any way I / My building society can pressurise the builder and / or the town planner to erect a lightning arrestor on our building.

Our Building is of ground + 5 Floors is there any other security equipment required on such tall building. Is there any website where i can see the rules and regulations of buildings and safety procedures to be provided by the builder in case of fire, lightning or any other eventuality.
