We need to work with a financial planner to be able to roll most of this money into accounts that won’t be taxed until we withdraw funds to spend. How much should we anticipate having to pay a financial planner to arrange this. Also, if anyone knows about these things will it be possible to make such a rollover? I am 63 and my wife is 64.

matlock49er asked:

I lost my job and my lease is up in 4 days. so me being a planner decided to move and have the place cleaned up before hand. I have never met my landlord just her maintence guy when i signed my lease. I email her 30 days ago saying i couldn’t pay rent wich is due at the end of the month, so for dec. She never responded back and i had no number to call her because she never gave me one.
Well tonight i get an email saying she is shocked to hear i haven’t paid rent. So now i don’t know what to do. Last time I heard from her was when she said she had to sell the house i was living in and then again when i had the city call to tell me that my house was not up to code. No one has ever came to the house, they said they would fix the yard, because it is just to piles of dirst right now, and since i moved in, it never got done. They fixed the other house behind us, but not ours. She has been a really good landlord, and i don’t want to stiff them, but I have no money and I am trying to explain that to her, but I am leaving tomorrow, and can’t get a hold of her until she checks her email, what is one to do?
I was on medical leave when my company i worked for decided to close and they still owe me money.

I paid first last, security and a huge fee for my dog.

And i have given her my number several times with no call back, she just emails apparently

spanner asked:

I do not trust him. It seems that every spring, when Joseph Smith takes another child bride, he comes to the house and asks my mother to sign some document. I believe he once referred to the process as”signing for the beneficiary”. He also has asked me to sing documents on the spot without explanation and without giving me time to read over the terms. Reading the conditions would require a half hour to a hour, I would say, judging by the size and amount of the print. I feel like am signing away my life!

My mom does not seem to have much money for all the input her financial planner has been exerting. I thought I heard to say to someone that she had to have a financial planner because she used to operate a home-based day care. I am not sure what having a day care in the home should have to do with requiring a financial planner to come into the house. I am tired of him barging in this way.

I have complained about him in the past, but it seems like my complaints are received by other financial planners, even a person from the same company. It is like complaining about the government to the government.

xia t asked:

Over the last few years, banks were heavily involved in ‘sub-prime home lending.’ Basically, they were giving away home loans that offered 100 percent financing, with no downpayment required, poor credit was not a problem and you didn’t need to verify income. As a result, many people with poor credit and unstable incomes rushed to buy a piece of the American Dream – a house.

Typically, these loans offered a low rate for two years (7.00% to 8.00%) with interest-only payments. After this, the rate would jump to 10.00 to 11.00% and so would the payments. People were told to spend the first two years concentrating on how to fix their poor credit records and to stabilize their household incomes. Unfortunately, many borrowers didn’t follow this advice.

Today we have a huge foreclosure problem as a result of this reckless lending over the past few years. How could bankers be so stupid? Where were the federal regulators? Why didn’t people see a financial planner or CPA before they made the decision to take on so much debt with questionable terms?

Please write a one to two page commentary on your impression of the sub-prime lending issue. However, please make sure that you list a few solutions to this massive problem. If you were the President of the United States or a congressperson, what would you propose to do? If you were a CPA or Financial Planner, what advice would you give your clients who are in this mess? I look forward to your responses on this hot issue of the day.

cap3382 asked:

Don’t get me wrong. I believe in saving for the future and I max out my 401(k), however it seems like companies, advisors, and planners stress you should be saving more because you “won’t have enough” when you retire. I want to enjoy some of it now and still plan for the future, yet my advisor warns me that I’ll still fall way short. All the financial publications seem so worried about not having enough.

Is this overblown?
Or should I sock it all away and live minimally?

spanner asked:

My mom’s financial planner is expected to come into town today and will be consulting with my mother. His visit coincides a little too well with someone else’s expected arrival in town. I am sure it is no coincidence. I have expressed concerns about this financial planner in the past. I feel he is ripping off my family. I am afraid of being done out myself. I am really concerned that he is doing us out on the system and working for others who do not mean well. He may actually be cutting “stonecutter” deals behind my back and pilfering me of everything he can.

I overheard my mom talking to him on the phone a few days ago. She is wondering what she is supposed to do because she claims to have heard something. I fear he is coming to give her orders on the system.

For all the financial planning my mother has received from this man, she does not appear to have enough money to get by on. All I am supposed to be getting out of his dealings is a small amount of money.

He has already asked me to sign documents on the spot, when the documents would have taken at least half an hour to read, especially with their small print. He does most of his work behind my back.

I fear more tricks from this tricky Norwegian. What can I do?
UPDATE!!!

HELP AGAIN!!!!!!!!

November 6th, 2008

My mom’s financial planner phoned at noon today and said he was making an adjustment. My mom sounded pleased when he said it, and made her approval implicit. When I asked my mother what he was going to do, she became defensive and would not say. I am scared I am going to be robbed and done out through tricks and lies by thieves who are out to get more out of me.
ANOTHER UPDATE!!!

November 10th, 2008

He was at the house for q few minutes on Friday, November 7th, 2008. My mom said he would make an adjustment, but I do not know what kind of an adjustment he was going to make. I was not in on the action or on what was going on. I really do not know what he did.
