Do you feel a communist government.that controls the entire globe would help humanity progress?

in a positive way. One language, One Money, One People…one destiny, which is to make earth a better planer. Without kids dying each day of hunger, without poverty, without homeless people walking the streets, and everyone educated, or willing to be someone in life…even if they arn’t the smartest person.

I don’t think that any government ruling the entire world is good for anyone. That’s why I’m not particularly enamoured with the current leader of the U.S.
Communism didn’t do it, nor will wholesale exporting of democracy. Deirdre H
I would rather have a free western capitalist economic system and free democracy to control. Similar to the US, where each state has it’s own laws, and those are divided into cities and counties. The present day countries now could have their own laws, but be controlled and united under a world federal government. Just as American States never consider war between each other an option any more, the countries wouldn’t see that as an option after a while either. stghm
If the communist system was pure then logically it should work. However, time and again, humans prove to be illogical. They are motivated by greed. The system would be corrupt. Also, people do things to achieve wealth. If the motivation that is provided by capitalism is removed then how will people behave? Where is the reward for being a “slave to the system” all day come from? I would assume in global communism we would all live at the same level. Globally we don’t know what kind of life standards we would have. It would not be a perfect world if this happened. there would still be disasters, diseases and other crippling events. We may be making are selves vulnerable as a species by uniting. The current separations of governments prevents us from ever being conquered by one threat. spidertiger440
It’s an awesome concept in philosophy. Unfortunately, the greed of man works better with capitalism. Too bad, too. We need more people who are not greedy or proud and enjoy sharing their knowledge and skills with othters without thought to price. We turn our heads to those in pain. It’s a shame.
My grandparents and parents lived in communist Russia and Russian ruled Hungary during WWII and were displaced. They spent time in Siberia when the government tried to force Communism on them. The problem is that if you force people to do something, it is no longer a happy way of life and happiness is what people really want. If you are alive without happiness, you might as well be dead instead. leelee
I don’t think that a communism is a good idea anywhere.
Sure, everyone is ” equal ” but that won’t do any good for the advancement of humanity.
There would still be a government in place that would be controlling and deciding on how and who to distribute things to the people, and whats worse is that the people have no say in anything. Thus creating more oppression and corruption within the state.
Also, it’d be nearly impossible to get every country and nation to join together and have one goal as a society. nina awkward
The idea of one harmonious world where everyone has equal rights and opportunities is great, but a world communist government is not going to work.
People need incentives to better themselves and they need ways to express individual ideas. They should also realize that the brightest, most motivated people in any society have an obligation to support those less advantaged among us. The best system to allow this to occur is a liberal, socially responsive democracy in each country. miketwemlow
I get what you mean and it sounds like it would help but I think that people should work to feed the poor with their own will. I need freedom or this wouldn’t work. The Helper
I think Eric Blair (AKA George Orwell) put it best in his revolutionary book ANIMAL FARM: “All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.”
I’ve put a lot of thought into this question, myself, but the answer remains elusive. Take Communism, for example: some argue that Marx and Lenin actually wanted a better, Utopian world. The problem was Stalin, and he illustrated the flaw of Communism quite painfully: thousands starved, despite the promises of the Party, and many more thousands were killed or imprisoned because they spoke out about it. I’m not running down the idea of sharing, but there’s not much to recommend it. For another version of the point I’m trying to make, read “Atlas Shrugged” and “We The Living” by Ayn Rand. AS shows, in a fictional way, how Communism went wrong. WTL is a fictional biograpy by Rand herself, describing the downward spiral of the “Communist Dream.”
World government has long been touted by theorists as the next inevitable step in our world civilization. However, I think we won’t see such a beast. If we’re lucky, we might get one in the next 2-3 centuries. You see, it’s almost impossible to get the assorted nations to agree on trade rules; what do you think we could hope for in the way of a complete world government? Still, it’s a great idea, but I don’t think it’ll happen right away unless we have a nuclear war or earth-shaking catastrophe. knight2001us
This relates to a very controversial political topic. This controversy has been involved in cold wars as well as openly violent wars. Vietnam had to do with communism question.
So we need to be very careful when discussing a topic like this. It depends on what all someone means by communism. You mention some ideals, but is that everything? You did not mention religious freedom. You did not mention human rights. You did not mention the rights of all creatures worldwide. You did not mention employee rights.
You did not mention the freedom of speech. Yes, there is a line to be decided in regards to freedom of speech. Some do abuse this freedom. The freedom of speech should be used responsibly. For instance, we cannot say that the freedom of speech means that it is ok to present things before children that promotes violence, drugs, crime, unnatural sex and so on.
One reason wars have resulted over political questions like this is that some go too far with the idea “the end justifying the means”. We saw this with so many groups over the centuries trying to gain control of the world. We saw this with the Nazis and their swaztica that was supposed to symbolize progress. We have seen this with the murder of political opponents. And these are just the basic human rights violations.
So all sides should put together a complete list of advantages and disadvantages for their proposed way of world order. Then the public can look all that over.
So for now we cannot claim that communism is the best thing for the world. Amanitvam
Communism actually would bring all the things you say it would eradicate upon us. Communism does not work. John j
That would be sharing the world with robots.
I see piles of thumbs down for very good answers. Communism never worked, is not working, and will never work…sorry to say, but it’s true.
Read some history and u’ll see why. Tune
why would you want to make every1 equal with 1 language…culture is what makes the world. Also communist is a horrible government just look at communist countries, they are poor, there is poverty, there are kids dying of illness, alot of people are uneducated under a communist government. the only people that profit under a communist government are the government. communist is the dumbest idea of a government i’ve ever heard. look at the old soviet union, the people were so poor becuase the government focused on military rather than people, people were starving, and uneducated, look at North Korea, Kim yil(or however you spell it), is living the high life while people are dying and suffering from poverty in his so called equality communist, look at china, people there are so oppressed and work long hard hours for $4.75 cents a day, they also have to live where they work and pay rent even if they don’t stay in the dormitories, it goes on and on, you tell me…will a communist government actually make the world better, why would you want to be told how much to make, how much you get and no matter how hard you work your neighbor will make the same as you, tell me where is the freedom, where is the benefit for humanity, if you ask me people that believe in communists are the uneducated ones. motoroladelight1
Whilst Karl Marx and his buddies got the basic theory of the dubious nature of ‘Capital’ right, 90 awful years have shown quite conclusively that communism, enforced socialism, just doesn’t work. Mao wasn’t any better either, and the fact that China is still painfully slowly drawing itself out of that morass bears witness to this fact.
The answer is in your question, ‘Control’. That is something that we humans are all trying to do, individually and in groups, and we are always thinking that we know what is ‘better’ for others. The answer is that we all prefer to find out for ourselves, like children, make our own mistakes and learn from the experience. Anyone who is a parent knows the awfulness of knowing that your child will put his/her hand into some fire or other, sooner or later, and there will be nothing you can do about it.
Intense government is like that, we try to treat each other as if we were children, slightly naughty, even stupid, children at that. Then we try to legislate away all of the ‘bogeymen’. All we really achieve is to criminalise an ever larger party of society, alienate an ever larger proportion of the society, and eventually, as with the Soviet model, we force the creation of an entire society within a society, working within the system against the system.
That’s what finally brought down Soviet communism, and it will eventually bring down any excessive form of government.
It’s really up to us individually. We believe that we need to be governed, we disbelieve that we could ever behave ourselves sufficiently well to not need to be controlled. I believe that we will, eventually, ‘evolve’ into a higher manifestation of humanity that does not need to be giverned externally, that we will govern ourselves internally not to interfere with or molest each other. I further believe that there will come a state of being in which the terrible things that we still do now, will become a bad memory, that we will simply not even contemplate such behaviours.
This is commonly recognised as ‘Anarchy’, a much maligned concept, which is taken to mean all sorts of nasty things, but which really only means ‘against organisation’.
Take a close look at what governments have been doing for the last couple of hundred years or so, and ask yourself, would no government have been worse ? DazMaz
No. We would have to be much more enlightened to ever accept such a plan. As we are now, we are too corrupted by personal greed to have the altruistic feelings necessary for a truly positive form of communal living. joey120746
The answer depends on what you mean by ‘communist.’ Obviously you are referring to ‘Utopia.’ The society is thriving, highly industrialized and high tech; healthcare is free, no crime; and everyone’s doing different things, but as a whole, it is one big harmonious society. It is hard to see if there is anyone who cannot see a bit of a beauty into it. But the irony is that the Utopia means nowhere: it may never exist.
Just for the purpose of pure theoretical thinking, such a utopian state is the place where the progress of the humanity ends or changes its meaning. People can still study Humanity like History or further try to enforce humanity, but with crimes and all ethical issues gone, there will be a whole new meaning to humanity. Mike Freeway
No way.
Besides there never really has been a true communistic country. There are always the haves and the haves nots.
Always the powerful and the downtrodden.
It is sad to say but competition breads excellence and and a competive edge that encourages being better, bigger, brighter. If a bus driver made the same money as a heart surgeon……what would motivate things to better? It is just the nature of humanity.
One world would totally destroy the uniqueness and variety of the human tapestry of life.
Besides Communism would not solve the worlds problems…if it did then why aren’t there people smuggling in to North Korea or Russia? Duh……As imperfect our country is, people are literally dying to get here.
It is scary to think of one people one money one language one world. clcalifornia
Communism and progress should probably not be mentioned in the same sentence since the opposite of what you describe has pretty much been the legacy of communism every time it has been tried in the modern world.
I have always thought it could work in a primitive society but there aren’t any primitive societies of a global nature as your description seems to assume.
Essentially, communism sucks, big time. coop
No . Hitler wanted to rule the world , too ..look at his record . tooJade
yes. it would help. it would also bring upon world peace.
for you people that said no you obviously don’t know what a communist government is, you are thinking of socialism. witch is border line with Communism but it has a dictator,, and they dont have the same values of human life. babyblue3362001
Humanity…that’s the issue.
As long as you are dealing with humans Utopia can’t be achieved under any system. RowanOak
