High school freshmen school supply question?

Ok so everyone says that in most high schools they don’t send you a supply list anymore…
So I’m wondering what should I buy…and about how many of each.

Would I need to buy one of those expensive calculators because in the past teachers made us buy them but in the end we could just use the ones that were available in the class for temporary use.

How many normal 3 ring binders should I get? Does the teacher require you to have one for their class or is it just recommended and I could just carry around one of those zipper binders and fit a few classes in that?

Planners/agenda things…does the school issue everyone one or are you required to buy one yourself…or is it not required but recommended? In middle school they always issued us one.

And umm…first day…what should I bring…I know I probably won’t use much but I wanna make sure.

bring a 3 ring notebook for the first day and most teachers will give you a supply list no matter what everyone else says.

And a TI-83 or 89 wouldnt be a bad idea. Just dont lose it or get it stolen.. Your gonna need it for all of high school and probabaly college david s

I’d go by the school and see if they have lists there, if not, I’d just get a few binders, and some paper, pens, and stuff like that.. it’s not possible to guess everything a teacher might require… chuckufarley2a

On the first day each teacher will tell you what you will need for their class. Some teachers want you to have 2 binders, others only want one notebook for their class. It depends on a teacher.
In my school we get planners 2 weeks before school starts.
On the first day you can bring 3-4 notebooks, a folder and pen/pencil. .A.

I would go ahead and stock up on spiral notebooks and 3 ring binders. On the first day, bring some paper and a pencil and your textbooks if you already have them. Your teachers will tell you what you will need for their class on the first day.

Some math classes have in class calculators, and others don’t in my experience. I bought a graphing calculator because I wanted to be able to use it whenever, especially at home for homework.

My High school doesn’t give a flip on whether or not you use a planner, but its all up to your school. If you want one, then go get one, but don’t bank on them giving you one, and if they do you can return the one you bought. :) ♪♫Dana♫♪

Oh the glories of high school! Well, I have a lot of experience with the school supply game, and here is what I recommend.

    - For high school, buy a scientific calculator (TI-30XA), but do not worry about a graphing calculator. The school should provide these if they are even needed.

    - Buy a 1″ – 1.5″ binder for each class. These are good for keeping yourself co-ordinated. What I tend to do is get a notebook with perforated pages for each class and put it in my binders. I take my actual notes in the notebooks, then I have loose paper to do equations, problems, and homework on. Use dividers to keep your binders in sections for the different units. Always keep a section separate in your binder for Tests and Quizzes. They will be your best friends come exam time.

    - Use an agenda! Don’t even consider not using it! The ones the school provides are usually good, but if you are a busy person, they may not have enough room. Staples sells really nice agendas at affordable costs for the more busy student!

    - Keep a stash of pencils, pens, paper, erasers, and all those little things at home. Carry a few of each with you, but leave the majority in a place where you can find them and replenish your binders and pencil case as needed. If you bring them to school with you, then you will lend them out and run out of supplies to use yourself! jer_henderson
