Is there special etiquette on using monogram before wedding day?

Chiky asked:

I heard from a wedding planner that using the monogram before the actual wedding day is kind of a “faux pas”. Now there are very many trendy invitations that include monograms which, obviously, go out months before the wedding. But I’m wondering if using a monogram on a wedding website is superstitious, bad taste, or just poor etiquette. Any fact or opinion would be appreciated!
monograms are not old-fashioned, embroidered, or out-dated. Mongrams these days are simply logos that incorporate the initials of the bride and groom. For example, the brides name is Michelle, the grooms name is Brian, and his last name is Smith so their logo/mongram would incorporate the letters M, B, & S
Not outdated… very much a traditional staple. reference: www.theknot.com

Monograms are for tacky cufflinks and hotel bed sheets.

    Do not.

I happen to think monograms are a beautiful way to show the union of two souls. Good for you!!

No, it isn’t a faux pas as long as the monogram is only used on wedding-related items such as invitations, linens, etc. Other than the invitation, the items are not revealed until after the wedding ceremony anyway. Your wedding planner must be young and not referring to Emily Post’s or Amy Vanderbilt’s books on etiquette.

Be sure that whomever is doing your monogramming knows the proper way to display….for Michelle and Brian Smith, the monogram would be B…S…M.

I would not recommend the monogram being displayed on the website for the above reasons…..items revealed AFTER the wedding other than the invitation.

Best Wishes! Have a great wedding!
