What can I do so i don’t get sued over late rent?
matlock49er asked:
I lost my job and my lease is up in 4 days. so me being a planner decided to move and have the place cleaned up before hand. I have never met my landlord just her maintence guy when i signed my lease. I email her 30 days ago saying i couldn’t pay rent wich is due at the end of the month, so for dec. She never responded back and i had no number to call her because she never gave me one.
Well tonight i get an email saying she is shocked to hear i haven’t paid rent. So now i don’t know what to do. Last time I heard from her was when she said she had to sell the house i was living in and then again when i had the city call to tell me that my house was not up to code. No one has ever came to the house, they said they would fix the yard, because it is just to piles of dirst right now, and since i moved in, it never got done. They fixed the other house behind us, but not ours. She has been a really good landlord, and i don’t want to stiff them, but I have no money and I am trying to explain that to her, but I am leaving tomorrow, and can’t get a hold of her until she checks her email, what is one to do?
I was on medical leave when my company i worked for decided to close and they still owe me money.
